Dragging you softly
Kicking off Studium Generale on ‘Crip’ pedagogy, theory, and practice, "DRAGGING YOU SOFTLY" consists of a short presentation on drag houses as spaces that have historically provided shelter, support, and a sense of belonging for marginalised individuals, celebrating diverse bodies and experiences while building community, care, resilience, and chosen family. "DRAGGING YOU SOFTLY" further consists of ‘care pod exercises’ to shift our focus from independence to the importance of interdependence—recognising that everyone gives and receives care in their own way and at different times.
*Crip is a reclaimed term that challenges ableism, celebrates disability culture, and promotes inclusivity and accessibility for every/one.
*Care pods are designed to meet the needs of individuals within a community, often stepping in where traditional systems (like healthcare or social services) may be inaccessible, inadequate, or harmful.
